On display will be several how-to-books, a dummy, a storyboard and thumbprints
and a how-to digital illustrator’s book, Children’s & Illustrators market book,
light box, drawing books. Plus hand-outs.
Mary Nida Smith, a freelance writer, author and illustrator will present the
workshop. She painted/illustrated under the name of Mary Ann Smith, former president of the Siloam Springs Artist Guild, Siloam Springs, Arkansas. She was involved with the Annual Ozark Art Alliance Art Show and Sager Creek Art Center at John Brown University, Cane Hill Harvest Festival Art Show (invitation only), Sager Creek Art Center Competitive Art Show, Invitational Show “Seeds for the Future,” Arkansas Heritage Celebration, Sager Creek Arts Center, Siloam
Mary Nida Smith, a freelance writer, author and illustrator will present the
workshop. She painted/illustrated under the name of Mary Ann Smith, former president of the Siloam Springs Artist Guild, Siloam Springs, Arkansas. She was involved with the Annual Ozark Art Alliance Art Show and Sager Creek Art Center at John Brown University, Cane Hill Harvest Festival Art Show (invitation only), Sager Creek Art Center Competitive Art Show, Invitational Show “Seeds for the Future,” Arkansas Heritage Celebration, Sager Creek Arts Center, Siloam
Springs Library display, participated in the drawing/painting Historical Homes Tour, and started the Monday night drawing classes (designed a poster for display).
Mary is self-taught; she learned from listening to visiting illustrators at conferences, local libraries, member of the Society of Children’s Book Writers & Illustrators and reading books on the subject and practicing. She created a 32-page children’s picture book with 27 line drawings and a pattern book of how-to-build six rooms of furniture for a fashion doll.
Her Illustrations have been published in SCBWI Bulletin, Farm Lines news magazine, staff illustrator for Writers Chapbook ( staff illustrator-Rolling Drum Press, Boise, Idaho) Idaho State Writers Leagazette newsletters, and the Twin Falls Chapter newsletter.
